[Case Study] Decoration on Three-Dimensional Curves Using Water Transfer Slide Printing
The reproduction of designs that are impossible with pad printing has become possible through the proposal of transfer methods.
The automobile manufacturer wants to add decoration to the interior dashboard, but they are considering a design that involves molded parts with complex shapes connected by two components, and they are facing the problem of not being able to find a decoration method due to issues with positional accuracy. Therefore, we proposed our "water-based slide transfer." We conducted tests on prototypes to evaluate the conformability to molded curved surfaces and the ease of application, as well as verifying the adhesion to the dashboard surface and confirming the physical property tests required for the vehicle's interior. This method allows for decoration on molded parts that are difficult with other methods, and due to the unique ease of alignment in water-based transfer, we were able to clear the positional accuracy issues without any problems. [Case Overview] ■ Issues - They want to add decoration to the interior dashboard but are considering a design with molded parts of complex shapes connected by two components, and they cannot find a decoration method due to positional accuracy issues. ■ Proposal - Introduction of water-based slide transfer. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
